Stage lifts & automated traps – Cirque du Soleil Viva Elvis – City Center, Las Vegas

Stage lift: Seventeen individual stage lifts are grouped together for this project. Five are constructed of steel and are actuated by a rack and pinion system. They vary in size from 64 to 1122 sq. ft. and travel up to 27.5 ft (8.4 m). Twelve are constructed with a steel base and an aluminum lift structure. They are also actuated by rack and pinion. They are 167 sq. ft. and have a stroke ranging from 6′ to 10′ (1.8 m to 3 m). Each elevator is capable of lifting 50 pounds per sq. ft. and has a static load capacity is 150 pounds per sq. ft..

Motorized traps: Three motorized trap doors cover the floor when the elevators are at boarding level. The two smaller trap doors are composed of two 4 ft x 2 ft panels powered by a pinion and belt system. The largest trap door has an area of 400 sq. ft. and is operated by a rack and pinion system powered by two 30hp motors.
